Last Updated: May 2026
What Changed: Increased user complaints about delivery delays in peak seasons (e.g., Black Friday), more reliance on third-party logistics partners, and slight improvements in tracking visibility.
Jumia Delivery in Nigeria is generally reliable for standard orders but inconsistent in speed and communication. It is safe and legitimate, but delivery times can vary widely depending on location, seller, and logistics partner. It works best for non-urgent purchases, but can be frustrating when delays or failed deliveries occur.

What is Jumia delivery?
What Jumia Delivery Really Is (Entity Definition)
Jumia Delivery is the logistics arm of Jumia, a major African e-commerce platform operating in Nigeria and several other countries.
It is not a standalone courier like DHL or GIG Logistics. Instead, it is a hybrid logistics system that includes:
- In-house delivery infrastructure
- Third-party logistics partners
- Independent dispatch riders
How It Actually Works
- You place an order on Jumia
- The seller processes the item
- Jumia assigns delivery via:
- Its own network OR
- External courier partners
- The package is shipped to:
- Your address OR
- A pickup station
This structure is important because delivery performance varies depending on who fulfills the order, not just Jumia itself.

Here is a review from one of the users. She rated Jumia delivery 1 star:

The rider sent to deliver my goods was very rude and he claimed he called, whereas he didn’t call, when I finally reached out to him, he started yelling and me, telling me that I’d get my good the next day, he was being very rude and annoying, y’all need to do better for real.
Yet, another user, Fatima from Nigeria, complained about the same thing. Bear in mind that Jumia delivery is the courier arm of Jumia ecommerce platform, and it is responsible for delivering items to customers. A certain user praised the quality of items she gets from Jumia, but complained about Jumia delivery:

Rude agent and delivery ridersI have been shopping with Jumia for over 5 years now, I never had any issues with my order, the product are high quality and what I ordered but thier staff are very rude and mannerless, the riders are also rude, I ordered for a washing machine and called the pickup station to ask about their pickup opening days and time; this woman insulted the hell out of me and later blocked me, this is very unacceptable of Jumia, I reported to customer care but they don’t seem to be bothered about it
Positive Patterns
- Smooth experience for:
- Low-cost items
- Orders from verified sellers
- Deliveries within major cities
Observed Trend
Most complaints relate to last-mile delivery issues, not the ordering process itself.
Interestingly, a user who previously left a negative review on Jumia delivery service had to come back and write a new review. The first review was really negative. Really negative. But let’s hear what she later said about Jumia delivery:

I would like to sincerely apologise for my earlier review regarding Jumia’s customer service and refund process. That review was written based on incorrect information that was provided to me at the time, which led to a misunderstanding of the situation.
After further clarification, I acknowledge that my initial claims did not fully reflect the facts, and for that, I take responsibility. I regret any inconvenience or misrepresentation this may have caused Jumia or other customers who read my review.
I appreciate the clarification received and felt it was important to correct the record. Thank you.

Final Verdict
Jumia Delivery is a legitimate and widely accessible logistics solution in Nigeria, but it is not built for speed or precision. It performs best for low-risk, non-urgent purchases within major cities. Users should expect occasional delays and plan accordingly.
If speed matters, use a dedicated courier. If convenience matters, Jumia Delivery is acceptable.
