The Polytechnic Ibadan is one of Nigeria’s most established public polytechnics, founded on 7 August 1970 as the successor to the former Technical College, Ibadan. Located in Ibadan, Oyo State, it was created to meet the growing demand for technical and vocational education and has since become a major centre for practical, industry-relevant learning.
The institution describes itself as a “citadel of learning” and a centre for academic excellence in Applied Science, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Business, and Communication Studies. Its academic structure is built around six faculties and more than 40 departments, with programmes delivered through both full-time and flexible learning options. The school offers National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programmes, with additional professional and post-HND options in selected fields.
