About

Edves is a Nigerian school management software platform founded in 2014 on a premise that distinguished it from the generic education technology narrative dominating investment conversations at the time: that the most consequential digital gap in Nigerian education was not the absence of e-learning content or virtual classrooms, but the administrative infrastructure deficit that prevented school owners and headteachers from managing their institutions with the accuracy, speed, and data visibility that effective school governance requires.

The founding observation was specific and accurate. In 2014 – and in many Nigerian private schools today – report cards were typed individually in Microsoft Word and printed per term. School fees were recorded in physical ledgers whose reconciliation with bank deposits required manual cross-referencing. Attendance was marked in paper registers that provided no aggregate visibility into patterns of chronic absenteeism. Timetable scheduling was done by hand, creating cascading errors when teacher availability changed. Parent communication relied on handwritten notes sent home with students – a channel whose reliability depended entirely on whether the student remembered to deliver the note. These were not the operational standards of dysfunctional schools. They were the operational standards of typical Nigerian private schools, including well-regarded institutions whose academic quality significantly outpaced their administrative infrastructure.

Edves addressed this gap through a cloud-based school management platform accessible on any internet-connected device, covering the full administrative lifecycle of a Nigerian school: student admissions and enrolment management, daily attendance tracking, academic results recording and report card generation, school fee payment management and financial reconciliation, timetable scheduling, and parent communication through SMS and in-app notifications. The platform’s commercial architecture targets private primary and secondary schools – the segment of Nigerian education where school owners bear direct operational responsibility and where the financial case for administrative efficiency is most immediately visible in reduced administrative staff hours, faster fee collection cycles, and fewer billing disputes.

Since its founding, Edves has served thousands of schools across Nigeria, processing millions of student records and establishing one of the more durable positions in Nigerian education technology – a sector where adoption has historically been constrained less by school owner resistance to technology than by the absence of products priced and designed for the operational reality of Nigerian private schools rather than for the institutional budgets of international schools or government education agencies.

To transform education management across Africa through technology that makes schools run better.
