MyJobMag is Nigeria’s longest-running independent job board, connecting job seekers with employers across the country through free, listing-based recruitment services. Founded by Ogugua Belonwu, the platform began in 2010 as a project under his earlier venture, Best Value Providers, before being formally incorporated as MyJobMag Limited in 2015. What started as a simple job-listing site has grown into a broader career technology company offering CV building, career counselling, internship coaching, and employer recruitment tools, alongside its core job board.

The company has built its 15-year survival in a competitive market – one that has seen better-funded rivals come and go – on a bootstrapped, self-funded model rather than external investment. That durability was recognized in 2024, when MyJobMag won Career/Employment Website of the Year at the Nigeria Technology Awards, with the company citing over 26,880 successful job placements to date. Between 2017 and 2022, it also ran an employability and livelihood support initiative across Nigeria and Kenya that reached more than 20,000 individuals, delivered in partnership with NGOs, universities, and faith-based organizations.

MyJobMag’s operations remain Lagos-centric, headquartered at 7 Atunwa Street, Ikeja – which reflects both where Nigerian corporate hiring concentrates and where the platform’s employer relationships run deepest. Listing density drops meaningfully outside Lagos and for senior-level roles, a structural limitation of its free-to-post model rather than a deliberate editorial choice.

Looking ahead, the company has stated ambitions to expand beyond Nigeria into East Africa, Southern Africa, and the diaspora, incorporating a UK entity to support businesses outsourcing African talent, and to integrate AI-driven tools into job matching and candidate discovery.
