NgCareers entered the Nigerian online recruitment market in 2009 – the same year Jobberman launched – and spent over a decade as one of its most recognisable direct competitors. Founded by brothers Paul and Andrew Eze, the platform grew from a few hundred users to over one million registered users in Nigeria by 2019, building a professional community across finance, technology, FMCG, telecoms, and logistics through job listings, career advice content, and recruitment tools for employers.

That independent chapter ended in September 2020. Jobberman Nigeria acquired 100% of NgCareers in an undisclosed transaction, bringing its closest domestic competitor under the same ownership umbrella as the market leader. The acquisition was executed through ROAM Africa – the pan-African digital media group that owns Jobberman – with a stated intention to consolidate Nigeria’s online job marketplace and operate eventually under a single Jobberman brand. NgCareers’ own Instagram account now directs followers to Jobberman Nigeria, reflecting how far that consolidation has progressed.

NgCareers continues to operate as a distinct platform in 2026, processing job listings across multiple sectors and maintaining a searchable vacancy database accessible to Nigerian job seekers. Its employee count stands at approximately 102 as of April 2026. But its strategic identity has fundamentally changed. It is no longer an independent company building product features and competing for employer partnerships on its own terms. It is a subsidiary brand operating within a consolidation roadmap whose end destination – full migration into Jobberman – has been publicly signalled since the acquisition.

For job seekers, the platform remains functional and free. For employers and researchers evaluating the Nigerian recruitment landscape, NgCareers is most accurately understood as an extension of Jobberman’s market reach rather than a standalone competitor to it.
